APO-OME 20 is a medicine used in adults to treat the symptoms of reflux, especially heartburn and associated stomach discomfort.
The active ingredient in APO-OME 20 is omeprazole (omeprazolum), which belongs to a group of medicines called 'proton pump inhibitors'.
The return of acidic stomach contents back into the oesophagus, which can become inflamed and painful, is called reflux. Reflux can cause symptoms such as a painful burning sensation in the chest rising up to the mouth (heartburn) and a sour feeling in the mouth. In addition to treatment with APO-OME, it is recommended to limit fatty, fried and spicy foods, sweet and yeasty foods, as well as black coffee, alcohol and carbonated beverages for heartburn problems.
The usual dose is one 20 mg capsule once a day for 14 days. See your doctor if your symptoms do not go away after this time. Sometimes it may be necessary to take the capsules for 2-3 subsequent days to improve symptoms.
You can take the capsules with meals or on an empty stomach.
